Turning six is a piece of cake!

Little C has been excited about birthdays before, but for some reason this year she brought anticipation of her birthday to a whole new level. She made it so excitable that it got KP and I excited to have it be her birthday as well. The day was busy, we had a play in the afternoon and in the evening to attend for her sister. But we squeezed all the birthday stuff in- well almost- I didn't have any time to make a cake for her- so this year it had to be a store bought one.

Our tradition of doughnuts for the birthday breakfast.

We also took in cupcakes to her class, and then KP and I took her out for lunch at Red Robin where she got balloons, an ice cream sundae and the embarrassing singing that no kid admits they want but secretly deep down they do.
Little C wanted just a family party this year which was okay by me. We celebrated after the evening play was over-a little past her bedtime, but she didn't seem to mind. HA ha.
She is almost riding her bike by herself. We are looking forward to family bike rides for the summer. She requested this hilarious bike helmet for her birthday.
Little C has been fascinated with space for awhile now. We have read many books on the planets and the moon, and she is even happy that one of Jupiter's moons is named Callisto. She likes it because it is pretty close to her name. She had been asking for a telescope so she could see the moon or stars out her bedroom window. She was pleasantly surprised to get one.
So great to have time to celebrate our Little C!

School Play-Willy Wonka Kids

Both A and B had the opportunity to be in a play this last week. They put on the play of "Willy Wonka" Miss B was an Oompa loompa and Miss A was Miss Violet Beauregarde. They had to go early to school once a week for several months to practice. They did a wonderful job. The music teacher came up with the costumes which were simple but effective. And I didn't have to sew a thing! Even better.

Miss B is the one at the very end with the blue and pink stripe.

What goes around comes around

When "B" was in Kindergarten she got to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and came home in a red and white striped hat and bow tie. Little C was so envious that I was taking a picture of "B" in her costume that she wanted to put it on and have me take a picture of her too. Now she has gotten to go to Kindergarten herself  3 years later to do the same thing. It made me laugh to remember how much little C wanted to be involved in the fun of that day, and here she is now getting to finally enjoy it herself.

Looking forward to forever

KP and I celebrated our 12th anniversary but really our 3rd "real" anniversary on the 29th. We celebrate our anniversary every year either on the 28th or the 1st, but we get really excited about our true anniversaries and usually plan something extra special for those. This year however we were not quite sure how to plan around some things we are waiting to have happen. So we decided to play it safe and not plan any trips away, because you can't plan everything in your life and when you want whatever it is to happen right?  KP had originally been scheduled to work a day shift on that day and with him working a 12 hour shift and it being our 12th anniversary, I put a plan into place.

I planned 12 gifts for him to open up throughout the day on the 12th minute of every hour. I wrote a message for each gift- a memory from some anniversary in the past, our inside jokes, and things that I love about him and then I matched a gift that went along with each one. So needless to say, he got some pretty funny and interesting things! :) But during the month, his schedule got switched up and he actually had the day off which was a present in and of itself to me. So it made it even better that I got to be there when he opened up each and every gift!
He said his gift wasn't as clever as mine, but it wasn't the least bit disappointing. He gave me a wonderful arrangement of "12" roses and daisies which are my favorite! Then he also took me out that night to a Japanese steakhouse for a little Hibachi cooking and the food was delicious! So you don't have to go on a fancy trip to make it extra special.  Just getting to spend a whole day with the one you love the most makes it grand!
