Turning 9.

Brooke turned 9 on Easter. With all the Easter festivities going on though it seemed not to be as personal for Brooke as we would have liked so we celebrated her all day Monday instead.

Started off with our tradition of Birthday doughnuts.
Brookes big request was to get her ears pierced this year. Here she is anticipating the pain!
Hmmm, not so smiley anymore.
By this time she isn't feeling well. This is where I do not win the mother of the year award. I had picked her up from school and we headed straight there. She really should have had a snack. She got light headed from the whole ordeal because she hadn't eaten anything since lunch. Whoops. Sorry Brooke. We got her some air outside and she was feeling better within a few minutes.
We took her out for dinner and had cake and ice cream afterwards. She is feeling much better by this point.
Singing her Happy Birthday!!
I love that my girls have caught on to the idea of gift giving. Allison this year bought Brooke this bunny basket because she likes bunnies. It was so thoughtful and I didn't even have to urge her-she thought of it all on her own several weeks before Brooke's birthday.
Colista not wanting to be the only one not getting her a gift came up with a small plastic slinky and 6 cents. Ha ha.

Spring Break=Family time

We decided to go to Washington D.C. this year. Since we have just sold our house and we are still on this side of the United States we decided we better do it now because it would cost us more to go another time.
The girls were awesome troopers. They walked and walked and walked some more. Then swam all night at the hotel. Their favorite part of the whole experience though would have to be riding the Metro. They LOVED it!
This is about how close you can get to the White House these days. We missed the cutoff to get a tour inside. We didn't ask our congressman in time. They were setting up for the annual egg roll.

We have way too many pictures to put on here so I provided a link that has our facebook album so you can see the highlights of our trip.
