Last Day of School Awards Assembly

I am so proud of my girls this year. Amidst all the "Moving Drama" the girls did really well in school. They had excellent teachers and were challenged enough to keep them learning and holding their interest in school. Here they are on their last day of school. (Ahem- I was also excited it was the last day driving them to school since our rental house is outside the school district) We were also blessed with them getting to finish the school year even though we sold our house.

As a parent you love to see your children achieve goals and excel in school. It was nice also for the girls to be recognized for their accomplishments this year. We faced a dilemma this week though. Brooke has been hoping for the last 3 years of elementary to be awarded the citizenship award. This award is given to one boy and one girl from each class for the school year. We found out from Allison's teacher and then Colista's teacher that they would both be earning that very award that Brooke had set her eyes on for so long. Of course I was excited, but distraught on what to do with Brooke because I know she had worked extra hard in the high ability class and wouldn't be recognized. I knew she would be disappointed to find out that not just one of her sisters, but both her sisters would be getting the award that she wanted so much! What was a mom to do? At least she did get one award that showed her accomplishments. She is receiving it from the principal below.
Brooke has been in a high ability class this year which means she is a third grader in a class that is mixed with fourth graders so they can learn at their own pace which might be faster then other third graders. She was intimidated at first by having fourth graders in her class but made a goal of getting straight A's anyway this year. She wasn't sure if she had accomplished this because she ended up with a B+ on her last progress report. She was happy when she was awarded a certificate for being in the "A" honor roll for school. I was very proud of her accomplishing this goal.
Allison and Colista both received the citizenship award given to them by their teachers. They both had really awesome comments given about them.
They had the kids line up on the opposite end of the gym from where we were. My zoom wasn't the greatest, and by the time I moved up, they had released the kids to go sit down.
Here is Colista with her teacher Mrs. Steiner. She said that Colista came to school with a smile on her face every day and came ready to work. She was a helpful student and listened and followed directions. She was a joy to have in class and was a friend to everyone. She also received an award for being valuable and got a free chicken nuggets meal from chik-fil-a for it, so I took her to lunch after school that day.
This is what Allison's teacher- Mr. Russell, had to say about her: Allison treats others with kindness and respect. Her creativity and fun personality add a lot to the classroom environment. Allison is a pleasure to have in class. She participates enthusiastically during each day and is always willing to help others.
For those days that I wonder if I am doing a good job raising my girls, this gives me a little encouragement!

Kindergarten Program

Little C had a Kindergarten program where they got to sing songs and do some actions. It was about 4 Disney songs that the kids were pretty familiar with. They dressed up as Mickey's and Minnie's.

It was fun to watch. My other girls never had a program in Kindergarten.  Little C really got into the songs with the actions. It was nice to see that she was comfortable with being in front of people.
After the program all the kids went back to their classrooms and had a little celebration and were handed their Kindergarten certificates.
It's official that I will be pretty lonely with all three girls in school all day next year. She has been a delight to have around me at least half the day. And I think she has enjoyed the one on one time as well.
