Accident free no more

So there I was driving home (less then a mile away from home) on a snowy day when the back of the van decided to start sliding around and I try to correct it and wouldn't you know it, there is a ditch coming at me and I am in it before I know what has hit me. I am sitting there with the nose of the van in the ditch thinking "Hmm, I am in a ditch, and I don't think I can get it out by myself. Don't think I want to do this ever again in my lifetime!" So, this man stops and asks me if I am okay. I am. I find out as we are talking that he is practically my neighbor and lives just down the street from me. Wish I would have met him in better conditions, but I am glad that he stopped to help. He gave me a ride home and I called my husband at work. My husband called a tow truck. They came and picked me up at our house and then drove me over to where our van was in the ditch. Luckily he pulls it out easily and I am able to drive it home. Here is the damage. I didn't think to get a picture of the van in the ditch- I obviously had other things on my mind. Even though it would have been a good picture to put on a sign that reads: Caution- icy roads. I am thankful that I was safe and didn't wipe out another car as I was sliding around, but unfortunately the van didn't come out unharmed. But after about a week, it is fixed and looking better then ever. I could have done without the whole experience, but it did teach me a few things, so I guess it isn't a total loss.

Visiting Family

Get back to what's good is exactly what I did over New Year's. I went to go visit family. My sweet husband was off for several days and agreed to watch the girls so I could go by myself. Even though I missed them, it was nice to not have to cook, put kids to bed, and play games and read on my new Kindle without being interrupted. I admit, I was a little homesick and going back home to see family was refreshing.
Another bonus to the trip was going to my favorite burgers and fries place. Goodtimes! I am cracking up in this picture because the guy at the cash register says- "Now that is something I haven't seen before"referring to me the crazy lady getting a picture in front of the sign inside. He happened to be the manager and I asked him why there were no Goodtimes restaurants out in the Midwest. He said we had Steak n Shakes out here- blah bleck- they don't even compare to Goodtimes! So yeah, I got back to what's good there also.

My brother was blessing his little girl that weekend. So the family went over to his house for a lunch afterwards. While at my brother's ward, I got to see a good friend of mine that I haven't seen in awhile with my family moving every two years or so. It was so good to see her.  Here is my brother, his wife, and my mom with their darling little girl.
We almost had the whole family together. One of my sisters had to stay in Utah which was too bad. We decided that when our whole family gathers together it can get overwhelming for other people. It just felt nice to catch up and hang out with family all weekend.I even got to visit with my in-laws. It was good to finally meet nieces and nephews I hadn't met face to face yet. I had seen many pictures but it is good to see their little personalities. I enjoyed the food, family and fun and the competitive heated game playing. It was a good start for my year.

Christmas 2010

It is better late then never right. I know Christmas has been over for about a month now, but I average a new post every 2-3 weeks, so I am right on schedule. Here is #2 in her new jammies opened the night before and proudly worn Christmas morning.
The girls recieved new gloves, headbands, belts and other good things from Santa. Here is "A" in her new jammies.
Here is little C showing off the goodies recieved from Santa.
The girls had a good Christmas. Some of the favorites were Wii games. The girls had played "Just Dance" at a friends house and I just knew they were going to love it. It has been very fun to watch my girls and their friends get their groove on.
This was another winner for this year. The girls have sung to their little hearts content for weeks now. They have also played Mario cart and love to play against mom because well- they enjoy winning.
