So last year the end of summer and fall was so dry that our poor grass lost out and the weeds won. When the dandelions started popping up all over our yard this spring I said -"Nuh uh dandelions- Not in my yard you don't" I have a little pet peeve about dandelions. When there is a whole yard of them that go to seed it just makes me cringe. But don't worry I won't judge you if you have dandelions in your yard- I just don't like them in mine! So fortunately we had a few days of sunshine and I got to dig all those buggers up. You see we sprayed them last fall, but they didn't die. I think they just grew bigger roots. I have never seen such honkin huge dandelions like I have seen here in the Midwest.
I know you may think I am silly for spending some nice sunny days picking weeds, but it is all worth it to me when I can look at my lawn and feel good, instead of looking at my lawn and thinking- one more thing to do. I measure my happiness in little successes.

Eight is great!
Well I usually disguise my girls names but since "Brooke" is right there on the cake I guess I will just add her name in for this post. Brooke requested a dolphin cake for her birthday. When I was taking the cake out of the pan some of it stuck and the cake didn't come out clean. Oh I was frustrated, because I thought I couldn't salvage it, and still make it into something that looked decent. But luckily I let the massive amounts of frosting do its magic and I think the cake turned out after all.

Since she is getting baptized towards the end of the month, we didn't do anything big for her actual birthday and thought we would save up for all the fun activities when family was in town. So she invited one of her good friend to come eat with us at Red Robbins. They sang to her and she was pleasantly embarrassed. Got a free ice cream sundae out of it too.
The next day she invited a few of her other friends to come roller skating with her. I left my camera at home, so no pictures, but the girls had fun.
Those same friends came and enjoyed the cake that we hadn't had time to eat the night before after getting out of Red Robbins at 9:00. Brooke can't wait for more festivities at the end of this week along with being baptized. My girls are growing up!
